Welcome to the home of the Alameda County Equestrian Society (ACES), a non-profit equine advocacy organization serving the horse community in Alameda County, California. The efforts of ACES members has resulted in inclusion of an equestrian position on the proposed Agricultural Advisory Panel that is being formed as a result of Measure D. One role of this panel will be to "...preserve and enhance agriculture and agricultural lands...". There was no opposition to creation of the position. Acknowledgment existed that equestrians represent the dynamic link between rural and urban citizens through agricultural land usage. The significance of this position is great.
Whereas many jurisdictions are confused regarding the contribution of equestrians to
agriculture, Alameda County is taking a positive step to acknowledge the critical role
played by the horse industry in open space planning and agricultural preservation.
Our job now is to ensure that new rules, regulations, and implementation policy are
consistent with the objectives of integrating equestrian revitalization with other
agricultural enhancement . If you live, ride and/or shop in Alameda County, please write to us at aces@extendinc.com and join our mailing list. Thank you! Mission: Alameda
